Well we now know who the fair weather cyclists are !! Tonight's weather literally dampened the ride and numbers were very low. Steve with Daughter Georgia, Nick, Martin and myself. Steve and Georgia did just one lap but it was great to see Georgia out Spiralling and getting a few QOMs on Strava !! Martin was out for the first time on his new Boardman and seemed to do much better , compared to slogging around on his CX machine. Weather aside it was nice to get out still and can't moan too m... The daylight effect of the clocks going forward has had an effect and i counted 21 riders out tonight, in near perfect conditions.

The steadier paced riders, as usual set off a few minutes ahead, a group of about 10

The quicker riders followed 4 or 5 minutes later, and the first lap remained controlled and social, although a few "hot spots" still notched up the pace in a couple of areas.

We slowly reeled in all the steadier riders over the course of this lap, many of whom ha...

My ride was very frustrating this week...

After swapping wheels and cassettes after the previous weekends 25TT, i put everything back to normal, but must have trapped some grit in the cassette as i tightened the lockring, this meant that my ride over to Bolsover was perpetuated with skipping & dancing gears...not good considering i wanted to push hard for some decent Strava segment times.

As i arrived i started to take note of the attendees for the ac...

I think the threat of rain kept a fair few (soft lads) away, but yet we still had at least 18 riders out, which is impressive numbers (i id actually forget to count, but ive had a quick tot up since)

We tried something new today, and it seemed to work really, really well

The group set off as a whole, but at Whaley Thorns split into 2 groups, the sprightly bunch adding a 3 mile loop via Langwith onto the circuit, those feeling less dynamic sticking to the usual 10 mile loop.

18 riders tonight (i think) made for another good turnout...before things all got a bit too fired up we tried a dry run of the forthcoming freewheel competition.

The really good news is that most people will comfortably freewheel all the way to the pub and perhaps just a little bit more, making for a real good spectator sport.

The bad news is that we will obviously have to marshal a couple of the corners, perhaps even chalk a white line to keep people on the safer side of the road...

Spiralling 2nd June

Another great turnout this week with 17 riders of all abilities meeting at Sherwood Lodge in the nicest sunshine ive seen on a thurdsay night for months. Simon Travell had laid down a challenge by posting a new fastest solo time earlier in the day of 28:03

The first lap was held together pretty well, with a large bunch keeping together despite a few sprints and attacks for hills, and just a few steadier riders forming a smaller bunch a few hundred metres behind. this lap finished the co...
