Alex and G enjoyed a steady 65 miler today covering Strines, Langsett Cafe, Holme Moss, Woodhead and back down Strines. 7,500 ft of climbing.Despite the odd hailstorm and hairy descents in the rain, this was a great route. See details on Alex' Strava upload.
I'm proposing we run this as an 'A' ride adventure later this summer. Slightly modified route wilth the return leg over Snake and\Hathersage will give circa 110 miles, as an option. Who's up for it?

A goodly group of Bolser riders. well actually, Lee, Bill, Paul, Simon, Simons mate, Alex and G, shivered their way to a 7.30am sign on in Buxton. Pauls wife was kindly dispensing tea and having made that last as long as possible, we set out together into the gathering gloom, around 8 am. From the beginning and throughout the loop, signing was excellent and the organisation was friendly and efficent.
The route was in a figure of eight with the first halt back at Buxton HQ after 30 mile...

This was an early start to head out to Blyth and watch our club road team ride the Ray Levers Memorial. Cool, damp weather but good to ride in. I used a loop through Kiveton Park, South Anston and Oldcotes, manfully resisting the cafe halt temptations in order to get there before the start.
All the lads, Xavi, Simon, Steve, Alex, and Ben were warming up, cheerful and just slightly edgy. Ben was off in the first group, and Jono Dexter (Bolser rider these days?) in group 3, e...

Matlock CC have an impressively long TT season and as i am time poor on a Sunday and live on the Matlock side of Chesterfield It is a good option for me to get a worthwhile spin out.
I wasnt orgnised enough to ride all the way to the top of Lea Road from home so i drove over and parked at Cromford Mils to give me a decent warm up - unfortunately i was already blowing by the time i got to the start point at the top of Lea Road. I signed up with my £3 and was given a quick overview o...

The idea of getting club members to take part in this event started with a little forum post and a few comments at the social..there was a scattering of interest. But suddenly the closing date arrived with us (without twitter im sure we would have missed it completely) , so a few frantic calls to the organisers and i was assured that if we acted fast we would be able to get some places..
The challenge to find suitable pairings from those that confirmed interest was on, and it didnt quit...

A very crammed Nonna's restaurant hosted the Sheffield stage of the Rollapaluza National Roller-Racing Series on Tuesday night. Roller-racing pits two cyclists on bikes on rollers (they aren't actually going anywhere) against each other over 500 metres. Basically, you get on a bike, spin your legs as fast as you can until you are told to stop and hope that you were quicker than your opponent. It's a sport that has grown in popularity over the past few years - mostly because it's such a great ...

This course at Draycott farm was a new venue for the NDCXL. The circuit was predominately through some farmers fields that were on a hillside. The long Eaton Velo club has managed to squeeze every bit of the available features to make the course interesting which included some tricky wooded sections and of course the steep hill side. The course offered almo...

The twitter buzz around this race suggested it would be a mud fest , and they werent wrong.
Another big field had cut up the course considerably during wanrm up, and it was certainly very muddy. Under normal circumstances this would not be so much of a problem, but as the day was warm , and as the mud began to lose some moisture it developed into something more akin to glue
A glue that decided to seize up both your wheels , and just so that carrying wasnt an easy option, double th...

NDCXL ROUND 11 "Sherwood Pines" results.
Jono Dexter was on a flyer around the top 30 but unfortunatley his front mech/chain broke and ended his race:(
The winner did 6 laps in 55m:05s with the first lapped rider in 40th place @ 11m:38s
The rest of the B&DCC results are for 5 laps:-
I thought the circuit...

A windy cool morning dawned over the ridge extending out to Palteron, scene of this weeks winter warmer hillclimb up Carr Lane
If you dont know this hill, its a cracking finish to many of our club rides, and like all hills, can be challenging while riding on a normal ride, but at balls out speed, as is what is needed for a hillclimb, its particularly evil.
We started this hill at the junction with the Stockley Trail , and finished at the Carr Lane street signs at the head.. overal...

The long journey down to a new NDCXL race venue at Roslistion, Near Burton on Trent seemed to put off a fair few regulars, but you missed out on a cracking course and the first substantial mud of the season. Significant rain before the event, and a spattering just after the kids raced ensured that there was plenty of brown stuff on o...

The evening before this race saw some pretty torrential downpours, and the rain continued well into the night, so i was expecting a mudbath. I wasnt concerned, most cross racers are road racers in the off season , and its sometimes laughable to see them squirm around in the mud...i generally like slippy conditions and some of my best results have come in the Belgian snow..
Unbelieveably , Southglade park was dry as a bone and the fast flowing circuit was almost tarmac smooth and as clos...

Hi all,
Not really sure what happen on Tuesdays chaingang with two riders dropping out after a mile !
We really need to make the chaingang work for everyone in the club as it’s a great training session for everyone.
The pace is all over the place at the moment with people hammering it on the front when they should be easing off

First of all: many thanks to Matt for a well organised start, great route, easy directions and cracking cobs at the end.
I set off with Martyn about 20 minutes after the other 50+ starters after helping Matt getting the Main Room ready for the following Zumba session. We consequently rode alone for 40km before joining with Jonka (the only other Club Member riding) and a group he was with about 5km short of the first cafe stop at Misterton. This group stuck pretty much together until Fli...

Just thought I would let you know that I completed the London to Paris bike ride. The route was 320 miles and I have raised over £2700 pounds for Action Medical Research which is a charity for sick children.
I am not as eloquent or as practiced as some of you at blogging so I cannot put into words the fantastic experience that the trip has become for me. It was quite hard in places particularly down through the Kent countryside to Dover. Day one was from London to Dover where we c...

Just thought that I would post and let you guys know that on the 20/7 I set off from the O2 centre in London heading for Paris with 600 other people raising money for sick and disabled children. I am really looking forward to the event which is a supported run over four days averaging 80 miles a day. We arrive in Paris and ride the route into Paris that the Tour uses along the Champs Elysee and to cap it all I will get to see the tour finish in Paris on the Sunday!!!!
Only disappointm...
