Spiralling Thursday 2-2-12

Posted by Mark Renshaw on February 2, 2012 at 4:40 PM

I decided that I'd missed a couple of outside rides recently that I was going to spiralling Thursday no matter what (Well almost) - but as it was dry I could always dress against the cold. huh

Paul, Bob, Dean, Myself and one other set out from the offices at 6 and split into 2 groups fairly quickly, we were due to do three laps and so paced our selves a little on the first, Although, after setting out 7 minutes after us Lee caught us up by the Mast on Oxcroft - Fantastic effort. It was cold so we chose to continue directly with the second lap. This time round with Lee in tow, the pace quickened, even though we had to stop for the customary Lee pee break near Elmton. I reccon the Turbo sessions might be paying off a little - cos, whilst not totally on Paul and Lee's pace, i was able to stay with them for the most.
The First lap was quickened up moor fruita, Paul doesn't like me to have a wheel in front of him going up there, but I managed to edge him on the first, but he wasn't about to let lightning strike twice and on the second he burned me, although neither of us could match Lee. The third lap was cut short due to a puncture heading toward Whaley Crossroads, ah well, it was turning too cold by then anyway so a quick jaunt along Mansfield road after a puff of air got me home. Cheers for the ride Lads. I'm just about thawed now!!

Good write up Mark. It sure was bit nippy around the chops but i'll take a road ride over the turbo anytime ( providing it isn't too icy to safely ride). I enjoyed my first lap 'chase down' and it certainly warmed me up nice. Thankfully the spiral loop was frost free and dry so it was rather pleasant considering it was cold. At least your puncture was a slow one so you could get home without having to change the tube with freezing cold hands Mark. Cherz:)

Brave going out on the roads at the moment. Any ice around or has the dry kept it away?
