Race Night at the Blue Bell, Bolsover?

Posted by Adam Galley on June 30, 2010 at 4:32 AM

I have spoken to the original Pub Landlord, Kev "Yer Barred" Maidens the other day. We were talking about the Race Night we held at the Blue Bell a couple of years ago. Everyone who went enjoyed themselves, we sold tickects for a pie and pea supper, a couple of Club WAG's took bets and we raised a fair amount of cash for both the Bike Club and the Bolsover Alternative Commitee.

Kev was wondering if we could do another, he would compare the evening again if we could hire the Race Night DVD and provide a couple of willing volunteers to take bets, we would then split the profit between the Club and Alternative Commitee. Kev suggested the 2nd or 6th August this year, any thoughts or observations?

Yes spelin in't my strong point. I have found a race night DVD packaged and fund raising kit on Amazon for £25 or £30, it has all the tickets etc. Do you want me to order it and get the ball rolling? I don't mind doing the maths to work out payouts etc if a couple of people will take the bets.

What would he compare it to? I think you mean compere - and a good job he does too...

Monday 2nd August would be OK (club social meeting night anyway), but I will have family commitments in the early part of the evening as it is my nephew's 7th birthday. I will ask the W if she would do the honours again if someone else can help.
