Summertime Views

Posted by BigV on July 4, 2010 at 12:13 PM

So, we headed off from Bolsover to Crich. Why do it? Why grunt and grind up more than just one or two of those really sharp climbs that seem to litter this part of the landscape? Why do it in the heat of the summer sun? Why into what could be quite hefty gusts of wind? There are obviuous answers involving "'cause it's there" and "masochism". However, there's so much more. There's the sense of success; the joy of feeling life-blood flooding through your veins; the rush of hurtling down some fine descents: sharing with fellow loons  the idea that

Therse's a cure for it all,

These summertime views...

...Seeing such a vista of the english countryside spread out before you from the ridge where Crich Stand points skywards... well.....stunning. Everything is worthwhile 8)

A very enjoyable ride. I didn't get as much time to stop and admire the views as my fellow cyclists! - 3 weeks off from cycling hasn't increased my speed... Thanks to you all for your patience. Most impressed I made it to Crich. Had to have a little nap in the afternoon though.... Why did it seem so much shorter on the way back???
