Here's a sneaky peak at the route of our next Audax event scheduled for Saturday 7 August 2010: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3626008
Its a 206km ride, starting and finishing at Cuckney and passing or visiting 6 windmills en route, with cafe stops at Mount Pleasant Windmill, Kirton-in-Lindsey, Waltham Windmill and Ellis Widmill, Lincoln.
Get the date in your diary NOW! An easy(ish) first 200 - fairly flat, albeit a bit lumpy in the Lincolnshire Wolds. For a change there are no AAA points. £5 entry fee with tea / biscuits at the start and food at the finish - bargain!
The name? The Lincolnshire Cross is the device that holds a windmill's sails in place. Also, the ride goes across Lincolnshire. Clever? No, not really.
More info to follow...
The route has yet to be ground truthed and a routesheet needs to be produced. So, if anyone is up for a foray into foreign lands, get in touch and we'll arrange a date or dates for a recce or two: possibly Cuckney - Kirton - Lincoln - Cuckney and Lincoln - Kirton - Waltham - Lincoln. | |
