I'm looking for a mountain bike for my 12 year old niece who is 5 foot tall and growing. Needs to be in good condition as my father wants to buy her one for her birthday and was intending to buy a heap of junk from Tesco.

Anyone outhere got anything?

if you are looking brand new , then something around £200 would get you a nice pinnacle such as this

if your budget wont stretch to this , then second hand is your best bet , and if this forum does not come up trumps , then Ebay is a good start , but i got a great bike(24" wheeled Scott) from www.retrobike.co.uk , its just that they are pretty rare

if she can run to 26" wheels , then that opens up even more , ive kitted my daughter out with a 1995 diamond back for £20 off ebay

Top tip is to avoid suspension like the plague !!
