Other than JE James does any one recommend any local bike shops for having bikes serviced?

i have to say not to forget Edison Cycles in Clowne , its not the prettiest shop in the world to visit , and you wont be able to drool over the bling , but Chris' wheel truing & building skills are very well respected locally.

We also have to respect the fact that he is pretty much the only bike shop in our clubs district , and if you are keen to support your LBS he should be your first port of call

mention that you are from B&DCC and Chris may be tempted to give you some discount

On yer bike in Mansfield can fit things in at short notice - have been able to get my bike fixed there the next day twice when all the others were needing 2 weeks notice. Seem fairly cheap and not had any problems with the bike since!

and dont forget that one advantage of being in the club is that there are plenty of members who might be willing to help you out & teach you how to service your own..i used to be a bike mechanic in my youth and the club has access to a full set of park tools

so if the job isnt major (like a full wheelbuild ) we can probably help you do it yourself

Took my bike to On Yer Bike on saturday afternoon and got it back yesterday. Gears and Brakes checked and adjusted and all for £8. I would highly recommend them.

New(ish) shop in Mansfield, Karl.Vcycling behind Playmania on chesterfield road is worth keeping in mind. Had wheel cone/cup bearings replaced, brake cable outers replaced, middle chainring replaced on different occasions, all 'while you wait' and very reasonable prices. £5 for the chainring job, pretty good seeing as he didnt even supply the chainring. And made me a coffee while I waited.

On Yer Bike is good too, but its nice to have options.
