Really enjoyed this little jaunt.  Good to see the tandem chugging along.  This and the summer evening sunshine 8) certainly makes this a green and pleasant land with a hint of the rose tinted days of yesteryear about it.  Pity there was that very irritating click and clunk coming from an uncoopertive modern rear gear.  I think Mark's detour could well hold possibilities. :)

Cheers

The Northern Spiral was just as sunny & slightly better attended, with 6 of us out.

Graham & Tom especially held the front most of the way, making everyone hurt on the second lap and taking the entire sprint points on the first. New addition to the crowd Lee Hyson from Bolsover showed his potential and managed to hang on in admirably for both laps

Paul from JE James at Rotherham rode both laps without trouble or strife; perhaps he just has a good poker face?

I struggled with the pace slightly on the second lap, but on returning home found id broke another spoke and had a badly rubbing back wheel, so maybe i wasn’t too bad after all...

Star of the show was Steven Cook, freed from the shackles of his heavy Mountain bike by a piece of club man compassion in the shape of a loaned winter bike from Graham Whiting, he took what the first lap could throw at him and came back for more, completing a large proportion of the second lap with us, then cutting it short but catching us for the last half mile home.

Good work Steve !!!

Unfortunately I was late out to the Southern Spirals due to putting kids to bed so although I missed the official spirals I managed to bump into Mark and we did a loop through Hardwick Hall grounds. I went up the steep side for the first time which my lungs knew about by the time we got to the top.

Hopefully next week I should be able to get out a bit earlier though a 7pm start would be better for me if possible.

Unfortunately I'm probably not going to be able for 7 again tonight. It will probably be nearer 7.30.

9 riders out tonight for this one - Gavin caught up eventually. Hillier route than last week but a nice ride anyway.
