Despite discussing the promo DVD at the last social meeting, we didn’t really come up with any workable ideas, although there were a few good ideas and a few completely mad ones.

I’m currently being asked to resolve this as soon as possible by Junction Arts, who have agreed that our meeting in December is the deadline by which time we should have a workable plan / idea.

I think we have a fair idea of what we don’t want (talking heads), but do we have any gems of ideas out there about how we encourage new members, showcase what we do and sell a positive message about the club and cycling in general? We probably need about 6 people willing to speak about their own area (MTB, ‘cross, road, etc.) and what they get out of it as well as encouraging others to get involved and join the club.

Now is a good time for gathering footage as there is plenty going on on most days of the week. How about a ‘week in the life of’ approach?

I’d be happy to have a meet at the Bell with anyone who would like to have a chat about possible ideas – sometime next week (but not Tuesday) would be good for me. Martin Blackham from Creative Forum (the film makers) would be happy to meet us again, but isn’t available until w/c 29 November. It would be good to meet him with a few ideas and a few volunteers signed up.

If you want to see how not to do it, I have a copy of a film produced by Leicester Road / Off-Road Club, which is fairly dire. We could do much better.

i really like the "talking heads " idea , with a rider racing/riding in a celebrity mask through each event....to reveal the actual celebrity right at the end.

Open to other ideas though especially as me preious one of , a Natural history type narrated documentary showing the evolution of the Bolsover Cyclist , from Go-Ride, through training rides right up to some racing !!

I like that idea coupled with Daves idea of a helmet cam morphing from and into different styles of riding. To me this is a novel way of showing how the club caters to all ages, tastes and abilities (Our Club Caters for Kids, Cripples and Coppers - never won a slogan writing competition, dunno why).

E.g.

         B&DCC organised races

                ↑

Day trips             Audax → B&DCC organised Audax

                ↑                    ↑

Tue. night rides     Sun. Club ride→Sportive

                ↑                    ↑

BMX→ MTB → CX→ Road → TT → Triathlon

                           ↓

              Mon. night coaching

                           ↓

            Sat training / Sun.racing

                           ↓

            B&DCC organised races.

Well thats me done rambling, going to lie down - damned insomnia - fourth night in a row.

If John sorted the soundtrack, that would make for an interesting film - I like the idea of a bit of Motorhead and Hawkwind...
