Matt will be posting some details up here soon, i think the event is nearly full already, and hes concerened it may become oversubscribed, hence the lack of publicity here

Gary Hibbard is riding, no-one else signed up so far.
I may be able to take EoLs on Saturday, but I only ordered enough cards for those who had already signed up and a few spares for late entries.
Best to drop me an email (matt.connley@talktalk.net) or call me (01246 825351) to confirm that you want to ride and I'll add you to the start list. I usually get a couple of DNSs so I should be able to fit you both in.
The route is available here: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4214831
The next Audax ride from Bolsover will be 'Colourful Clumber' (114km) on Saturday 29 October, an end of season favourite that heads through Clumber Park and south of Retford to the excellent Dovecote Cafe at Misterton, before heading back through Headon, Bothamsall and Clumber Park to Bolsover. Hope to see a few club members out. More details will be posted on the website by the end of September. I will be taking entries at the club social - £5.00 for AUK, BC or CTC members, £7.00 otherwise (includes temporary membership).
Please enter early if you want to ride as this one is very popular and I will be closing entries at 100.

Matt Is there (with this event or any other) any issue in any club members who arent chasing Audax points , picking up a route card from you and just riding the event?

I'll be having a ride round this route with a mate first thing Saturday morning, will be starting at 6 as he wants to be back home for 10. Looks a nice route.

I now have a few spare cards for anyone wanting to ride the Beast on Saturday - just drop me an email (matt.connley@talktalk.net) to confirm and I'll take entries / payment (£5.00 AUK, BC or CTC or £7.00 if not) on the line.
If people want to ride the route without entering there is no real reason why not other than it is entirely at your own risk. By entering the Audax event you are insured in case anything untoward happens - unlikely, but always possible. Plus you get to ride with an eclectic mix of cyclists out for a good ride.
I'd be impressed if anyone can ride this in 4 hours - the quickest back last year (shorter route) was back in just under 5 hours and the slowest took nearly 8 hours.

We are cheating a bit, starting at 6 from Chesterfield, and finishing there as well. The route we have is about 50 miles. I will certainly look at the other Audax stuff and consider them in the future, it's all new to me!

Twas a great route, made a few diversions as mate was in need of getting back to chesvegas, loved the nasty surprise hills, Did 60 miles in around 5 1/2 hours, the bit out of Ashford was especially horrid, and in a massive downpour. Never been so wet!

Glad you enjoyed it - shame about the rain...one or two got caught just before the cafe stop at Flagg, but generally the weather wasn't too bad.
Gary Hibbard and Jonathan Wardle represented the club in a field of 26 riders, although there were 4 DNFs, which is a first.
I'll be running this ride again next year on Saturday 29 September, but in the reverse direction, which is arguably slightly easier? It's an excellent route in either direction in my opinion.
I'm taking entries for 'Colourful Clumber' on Saturday 29 October, 114km to Misterton and back via Clumber Park - free tea at the start / food at the finish, £5 (AUK, BC, CTC), £7 (if not). Would be good to see a large turnout of club riders.
The route preview is here: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4137320
