One of our sponsors - National Trust Hardwick - this year invited us to decorate one of their 20 club / charity Christmas trees which line the inner yard and walkway to the hall entrance inside the gate house. After what was a cold Carr Lane Hillclimb myself and Lee rode over to meet Mrs T and my kids to decorate the tree. By the time we arrived at Hardwick the temperature had dropped and decorating a tree in gale force winds was "fun" old bike bits for baubles and a couple of chains for tinsel and it was nearly done . . . Johnny A arrived LATE in his full Arctic Winter Gear to poke fun at the shivering cyclists with numb fingers and added the finishing touches with club logos he'd been laminating in the WARMTH all morning and it was done ! Not a bad effort considering the weather - let's hope it helps spread the club name - provided it hasn't already blown away !! | |
