Better believe it Conor - eight out and going hard, with Steve and Simon ripping a few legs on the way out and Lee and Simon strong throughout. Steve demonstrated great bike handling to stay up after being taken out by a demented motorist in Church Warsop. Said "driver" was mortified to be confronted outside his house by 4 cyclists and our resident club Police Officer, who administered a serious talking to. Good to see John again, after a few weeks away and everyone worked well to make it a 50+ mile proper A ride. Averaging 16 mph in that wind was a good performance.

Talk about a ride of two halves!!! Flying at 20-30mph to the cafe then dropping to around 12mph on the return leg in to some crazy head&sidewinds. The final mile from Palterton to Hillstown scared me to death as a brutal left side gale blew us in to the middle of the road !! If it had been any stronger i think i would have fallen off :(. Some good hard efforts and pulls on the front by several guys made for a quality leg workout ( my thighs are still buzzing !). Thank god the road in Church Warsop was dry and we had fast reactions because if it had been wet/frosty i fear me,Steve&Graham would have hit the w***er in the red Astra and been injured quite badly. I chalked up 55 miles, average 15.8mph. Thanks to everyone for a great outting.

it was good to get out with you guys and boy did you rip my legs off. i think i should be known as pinnochio because my legs were definatly made of wood, if any one has any ideas i am having really bad lactose problems in my thighs.yes i will be riding more often so hopefully the wind will drop and i can stay with the boys. thanks to Steve for getting me up and out of Southwell.

Wow, that was brutal, great ride but I think yesterday's hard hour on the turbo wasn't the best prep for that! I'll take it easy next week to be ready for Sunday. Legs will no doubt benefit from today, thanks guys for keeping me going,

Great Ride gents The first hallf of the ride was amazing, i apologise to those affected, but the fabled cycling tailwind is a rare beast and i felt obligated to take advantage and experince those beautiful moments where maximal speeds come at much less effort than normal, it just wills you to push on harder and harder. the few occasions where we turned slightly into the wind gave us a stark glimpse of what was in store for us for the remaining half of the ride. The decision to knock off the additional loop to the cafe at bleasby was a wise one as it would only have increased the agony on the way back. although i ache, im confident enough in teh strength in my legs to add my name to those riders extending next weeks ride with a Strines loop..looking forward to it , hopefully a few more will too...more here Top tip...if you are feeling tired in these sort of conditions, fight with all your strength to keep sheltered in the middle of the bunch. Hanging onto its coat tails will just have you fighting as the groups elastic stretches up hills and at junctions, and if a gap forms , a great big red boxing glove of wind will batter you....you will not hang on... and i do know thats easier said than done ! Good work everyone, what was amazing was the amount of arseholes out on the roads, the near miss noted by others above was the highlight but there were plenty of other drivers making some shocking overtaking maneuvers...nobs !
