B&DCC Road Biking activities
Road biking is another of the core activities of B&DCC and we promote a number of rides to develop the fitness of our riders, from the traditional Sunday morning club run , though to our Thursday night Spiralling development ride , you might also want to check out our Audax & Sportive pages if longer distance cycling appeals to your nature.
Spiraling - Wednesday & Thursday Night Rides
"Spiralling" is a trial ride of a new concept that meets several objectives Wednesday night rides take place in the South of the district and starts at 7;00pm at the Corner Pin , Morton , where there is plenty of parking , toilets & a Bar for a post ride pint if you wish Thursday night rides take place in the north of the district and start at 6:30pm from Clowne Community centre, It consists of several laps of a 10 mile route (click here for the route) It is planned so that beginners can join just for one lap , and peel off when the ride passes back through thestarting point - more experienced riders can do 2 laps , or more as time , fitness & weather allows The pace of each lap will increase every lap to give a good workout for all all are welcome to give it a go , if the trial is successful we will try and do the rides on a weekly basis and set up a second meeting point in , or just outside Bolsover Please note that the wednesday nights spiraling ride is "held" pending suitable demand , if you are wanting to join this ride , please post a message to us through the "contact" page and we will keep you informed of progress
Club Runs - Every Sunday
B&DCC promotes a regular "Traditional" club run on sunday mornings
This ride is intended for intermediate riders who are comfortable with riding a distance of 25-50 miles over varied terrain. As with many of our rides we will set the pace to suit the slowest rider. Full details of all Sunday rides can be found in the Calendar section of the site (if you are planning on joining us for a ride , please post a comment against the relevant ride so that we know you are coming)
Summer 2010 will bring a shorter sunday ride for those less used to the long distances
Join our Road Race "Team"
Team B&DCC looks forward to the 2010 with some key targets !!
Although our club has no tradition of road racing we are anxiously looking to reverse this trend in 2010 by Coaching and developing interested club members into competing in some of the more low key , local events next year
key on our list of objectives will be the Saturday events promoted by the North Midland Road Race league with the first three races of 2010 taking place on our doorstep on a course around Cuckney & Budby
These races will be run on the following dates 27th March , 24th April , 22nd May
