2009 Sportive Round Up

The Bolsover and District Cycling Club has been represented in a number of rides that have raised funds for charity, often via numerous sportive events:

In March of this year members of the club found their stroke (or was it had a stroke!) in tackling The Cheshire Cat Sportive.  They may have wailed their way up and been bitten by The Mow Cop mile..

.....and clawed up the cobbles at Alderley Edge..but there was purring over some of the views.....

In April The White Horse Challenge was met.  OK, climbing the chalk white steeds of the Wiltshire landscape did prove to be challenging but the charge along the top certainly fettled the locks.

And in May The Midland Monster, while proving itself to be of aquatic form on the day, was successfully tamed.

Our club also showed up on The Bike Radar Live sportive. It went Flat Out in the Fens and bounded along The London To Brighton run.  Unfortunately, the carnage that occurred on The Tour of the Peak included one of our members.  But, displaying true Bolsover and District determination, he picked himself up, checked the bike, then himself and carried on.

Overall, 2009 has seen us getting out there and taking part.  It is also a cheery thought to note that all the riders returned with times that were at least average, often better, and, more importantly, in one piece ready to have another go.  Indeed, some have already signed up for events in 2010
